It was a little over 3 years ago when pen first hit paper on the script that would become Praise Pictures Inc.’s first feature film STANDING FIRM. I’m pleased to announce after all that time, countless hours of work, many obstacles and pitfalls, and many other things…that the film now has it’s official release date!
On August 24th, 2010 you will be able to visit your local Family Christian Store, Lifeway, Parable, and countless others as well as all major Christian retail stores online to buy your copy. This is very exciting for Praise Pictures and all those involved in creating STANDING FIRM.
Please stay in prayer as there is still work to do in finishing the film. The musical score is well on it’s way to completion, final sound-mix will be completed after that, then all the bonus features will be completed as well so you have the greatest DVD experience you can. Your all going to love the behind the scenes features!

2009 was a tough year, that much is certain. So much to be thankful for, but not without a price. Just as 2008 brought much death and loss to the cast/crew of this film, so did 2009. The greatest of these in May 2009 when we lost one of our cast members and my best friend. The film presses on, and I can’t believe the kinds of things that are happening.
This year we continued to shoot a little bit while the edit came together more and more. We released our trailer, gathered most of our promotional video material and interviews, launched a new website, grew our Facebook fan page well beyond 7000 fans with 8000 on the way, Twitter followers nearing the 2000 mark, countless media contacts in TV, Radio, Print that have come our way and have been filed for 2010’s marketing plan and push for release, and so many other things.
No distribution came through with the larger distributors we had been hoping for from the start, but little did we know what God would have in store for us. We’re pushing forward and will soon be gathering funds for the Score/Sound-Mix. Our composer and sound-mixer has been chosen, and the edit is nearing it’s locking point. Color-correction will start in February now that the proper tools to do it well are finally in hand.
Supporters around the globe have gathered in support of our film. People from 20 different countries and 20 different languages make up the fan base we hold on Facebook. When you consider where this project began and even where it sits now, that’s still incredible. This isn’t some major studio film, and it’s not even a larger budget film, and look where God has brought us? I’m so thankful to see him working in all of this. It will be 3 years this March since the journey of Praise Pictures Inc. and Standing Firm began. The journey has been long, it has been tough, and it’s not over, but I believe that God will be bringing something really special this new year. We are going to attempt and shoot for a Mid-Summer release on DVD in a number of markets around the US and see what goes does. We’re even going to attempt Subtitle creation for 5+ languages if we can so our options are open for foreign distribution. Much is being done to take what grace God has given this little film, and use it to it’s highest potential for His Glory. I can’t what to see what happens!
As we gather together funds, finish the film itself, develop our marketing strategy and release time, and create promotional materials and other things, please be in prayer. Some of you have stuck with us from the very beginning, praying right along the way seeing all the victories come to pass. I hope that regardless of what Blessing the film itself may be to you, that the experience of watching it come together has been a source of growth in your walk with Christ.

Wow, another year comes to a close. The production on this film has now seen 3 Christmas seasons come to pass. That sounds absolutely insane to me :/ Three years, wow.
We’re working really hard to bring you Standing Firm as soon as humanly possible. God is providing the means to pay for our post-production so we Praise Him for that! Locking our edit is coming very soon, score/sound-mix should be able to start beginning of the new year, and we’re already roughing out a release plan for mid-summer. All guesses of course but I’m thrilled to know that for the first time, I can see the remaining steps in the staircase. Thanks so much for your prayers/support, we love you all so much.

Alright folks, this is where you help us get 2010 off to an amazing start for our film. We will be releasing the film on DVD sometime in 2010 (hopefully mid-summer, we’re still looking for post-funds and distribution, prayers appreciated!).
I know your all waiting anxiously Be patient though…there are still things for us to do, and things you can do as well.
Many, many, many of you have used that ‘Suggest to Friends’ button under the poster to add your entire friend lists…and thanks to you who have done it thus far.
We want to set a goal of 10,000 fans for January 1st, 2010.
Is this unreachable? Look at our fans now, we have over 6000. If all of you only had 50 friends to invite that’s 250,000 fans! To hit our goal of 10,000…all of you (not even all) have to invite just ONE. Come on people, some of you have hundreds of friends and family on Facebook who you could spread the word too. These kinds of films, like Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and now Courageous that Sherwood has put out required a lot of your help to spread the word around…we’re no different.
Christian movies are on the rise, and they require YOU the Christian to drive it. For those with more friends will it take you a few minutes? Sure, but what’s a few minutes of your time to spread the word for a worthy cause and message? Films like ours require your participation, we don’t have millions to spend on marketing…we have almost nothing!
Those of your praying for post-funds and distribution for us, don’t you think that being able to say “we have 20,000+ fans on Facebook who want to see this film released” might carry some weight with an investor or distributor? What about 30,000? or 50,000?!
We can do this people! Lets make a big splash! I’m counting on you!

Just a quick update for everyone First of all I’m getting really sick so I would appreciate some prayers on that end of things so I can get better…everybody seems to be coming down with something!
We’re continually working on the edit and we’re now in Cut #5. The film is coming together nicely and some good feedback from some that have seen the film is helping the edit a great deal. We’re still in prayer about how we’re going to pay for our score/sound-mix and on the distribution end the doors seem to be cracked open, just waiting on God.
Just continue to pray as you have for so long that all the decisions made would be aligned with what God wants us to do and that we in no way take a wrong turn.
After receiving many Facebook messages, phone calls, emails, etc. today I’m just amazed at how the word has spread about this film. Facebook, the website, and this blog…and people like you who read this and spread the word! It’s amazing who knows about this film and have contacted us to lend their support no matter what kind it may be.
I can’t wait for the day when we can give all of you a release date. What a wonderful victory that’ll be for us! As always, thanks so much for everyone’s support, prayers, word of mouth effort, and all things in-between. We appreciate you!

About 20 minutes ago God broke me down for the millionth time since Standing Firm started. Every time I take a moment to look at our film, my time spent with it normally ends in tears. As I watched pieces of the film unfold on my Plasma (I can finally pump my edit from Final Cut Pro to my TV via an output card) I just could not believe my eyes. You’d think it would get old, seeing the same old scenes, behind the scenes interviews, etc., but it doesn’t. It’s just like the first time I saw them put together, unbelievable. It’s less about how each scene turns out too because I’m very satisfied with our film given our circumstances and situations. It’s more about the fact that God gave me such an incredible passion for this stuff. I’m so thankful to have this opportunity. The HONOR of serving him in a way that I can enjoy spiritually and artistically. As a Christian, of course it’s my duty to serve him and be joyful no matter what he has me doing, but I count doing it with filmmaking as an extra Blessing.
The fact that so many put in their time for this, drives me absolutely crazy with happiness. The thankfulness makes me want to freak out sometimes. How is this possible? Why me? Why Kyle Prohaska? Why now? Why when I’m 21, and not when I’m 40 and have a greater grasp on things? It’s just amazing that I get to do this. We didn’t have a lot of money, or a lot of crew members…nor did we have a ton of equipment, lights, the best camera, or the greatest locations. I mean for pete’s sake, 90% of the film was shot with two crew members (myself and my gaffer doubling as sound), with actors carrying equipment! But what we did have was the Lord, and that was more than enough!
I didn’t do a lot today but yet again work on the film. I burned new copies of Cut #4 and sent them off in the mail. That felt really good Our fan page is still exploding with activity on Facebook. It seems new people find it everyday. I did some simple math and it looks like we have almost 1300 new fans since Oct. 1st. That’s absolutely insane! Thank you Lord! I’ve been praying (and I hope you would join me), that this film would find a huge audience well before it’s even on DVD. I’ve had some ideas rolling around in my head on how to get that going, and implementing a few seems to have worked! There are still bigger and better things to come down the road to, no matter what happens. How would you all like a place to discuss the things God has done in your life? That’s all I’ll say for now regarding the idea, but I hope it gets you excited!
Keep praying for distribution, it’s in their hands. Pray that the Lord would provide a way for us to pay for our music/score and our sound mix, whether it be by our distributor or not. That’s something we really need. Prayer started this project, and prayer will undoubtably finish it.

I’m astounded at the response we’ve been getting from people online in the past month. Visits to our websites related to the film, this blog, our twitter page, facebook fan page, youtube channel, etc. have skyrocketed. In the last month the website and blog has seen a 200% increase in traffic! We’ve gotten tons of responses to the trailer on Youtube and gathered around 1200 visits to the channel in just 2 weeks. Two interviews have been done with myself, one an online blog, the other a podcast.
Facebook has seen a 1000 fan jump and we’re now around 3100 fans. This is due to a lot of time spent messaging people and finding fans of Christian film content from around the country! Many have taken the time to invite their friends and family as well which is the only way for us to gather the grass roots fan base we need. Have you done your part? If not and your a fan, use the Suggest to Friends button under the poster on our fan page and give it a whirl!

The fact that these kinds of comments are only from our trailer makes me terribly excited to get this film done and released. I’m very excited Please continue to help us spread the word, especially if your on Facebook. Currently our Fan Page is one of the greatest ways to gather supporters and keep them up to date on what’s happening. The email list isn’t taking off like I had hoped so Facebook is it and is the easiest way for others to tell people! Do your part!
Cut #4 of the film is well on it’s way and I think we are getting closer everyday to picture lock. Many scenes have been tweaked to perfection and only a few things remain before the edit is in really excellent shape. It still amazes me everyday just how far God has brought us and what kind of film He’s given us to share with everyone given the resources/time/people we had. He IS good. He started this, and he’ll finish it. I’m not worried.
