Starting the Lock

Editing a film is a long and laborious process.  I’m pleased to report that we’re now heading towards the end of it.  The film was recently split up into 4 reels, each around 20 minutes long.  Reel 4 is in the best shape of the three and will likely lock first.  The term “lock” refers to a point in time where the actual length of a given chunk of the film will not change.  No more tweaking to any scenes, no changing of the pace or adding a frame or two between a cut…it stays how it is.  It’s tough getting to that point as you nit-pick over things, try and make each scene it’s absolute best, and even go back and make sure that there aren’t any better takes that can be used to strengthen any given scene (which in some cases there are some of those laying around!).  It’s nice to be at this point, having started editing the project so long ago…Praise God!

Thanks again to all who helped us have our most fruitful month yet on the internet.  Our visits to the website, increase in fans on Facebook, additions to our email list, followers on Twitter, emails and Facebook messages of encouragement, etc. have all been incredible.  That was all in just the month of October!  We’re hoping that somehow that kind of energy could sustain over time until our project is finished and we begin a marketing push towards a release date.  We’ll continue to update you, post things for you to engage yourself in and respond to, etc. but overall the effort all of you put into spreading the word needs to continue.  For those of you who have invited all your friends on Facebook to our fan page, thanks so much…that might be our most valuable resource to date.  Those of you who haven’t, please do…as one fan put it, “It’s no problem, it was so easy!”  It’s up to you guys.  While larger budgeted movies have tons of dough to market and promote their films, ours will be minimal.  Even bigger movies that throw the big dollars at billboards and websites still hope to gain a certain percentage of exposure from you guys…so do your part :D

Happy Reformation Day!  God is Good! (all the time)
